When it comes to scents, I am a big fan of Chanel Chance Eau Tendre. I’ve been using the perfume and hair mist for years now and have received wonderful compliments on how good it smells. A close friend of mine, however, loves Hermès perfumes so much. So last Christmas, I granted her wish to have the Hermèssence collection. Actually, I had never tried any Hermès perfume ever, so shopping for her was quite fun for me. I visited Hermès boutique at Lotte World Avenuel in Jamsil, Seoul with another friend.
Then a week later, I went back to buy some for myself. 😂
Hermessence. Sense, essence, essential. The essence of Hermes and the very soul of perfume. A collection of olfactory poems, with sobriety and intensity, which freely explore new facets of emotion. Nature reinvented, unexpected and poetic. Unique and surprising associations of the most noble elements of perfumery. Jean-Claude Ellena, perfumer to the house of Hermes, has created this collection of fragrances for both men and women which touch the heart and speak directly to the senses.
You can choose four scents/bottles to put in your Hermèssence collection box. There are 12 scents to choose from but I like only three: Osmanthe Yunnan, Vanille Galante and Rose Ikebana. I like Vanille Galante the most so I asked for two bottles. The vanilla and ylang dance together in such beautiful symbiosis, and the wood and spice give it its unisex twist. The scent is light and refreshing at the same time. The others were a little too odd for my liking. Each bottle contains 15ml of perfume and the Hermèssence collection (set of 4) costs 200,000 won or 186 USD.
In addition to the Hermèssence collection, I also grabbed a set of perfumed soap (Eau des Merveilles Savon) coz I liked the colorful packaging. A set of three costs 90,000 won.
You can choose the fragrances yourself when you decide to put a box together. There are so many scents to choose from and each soap has several cover designs. For my box I chose:
- Red – Eau de rhubarbe écarlate: A fruity and fresh cologne with a touch of musk
Turquoise – Eau d’orange verte: A woody, minty and fresh scent with a touch of saffron
The soap smells good but so much lighter than the cologne. It cleans my skin without drying but I don’t think I’m going to purchase it again. It is pricey but nothing special. I love my cheap antibacterial soap more than this. Hehe!
Currently there are 12 Hermès stores in Seoul.
