Hubby and I were craving for some grilled beef so we went to a restaurant called Hanwoo Cheonguk (Hanwoo Heaven).
Why do Koreans love Hanwoo?
Hanwoo is regarded as a premium beef (A++ grade) because of its high palatability and desired chewiness. Since Koreans consider Hanwoo beef a cultural icon and one of the top-quality beefs in the world, it is used in traditional Korean food, popular holiday dishes, or as a special-day gift. On major holidays, Hanwoo meat sets are sold for 500-1000 USD.
Some restaurants sell Hanwoo beef for an average price of 45,000-50,000 won per serving. One serving is 150-200 grams of meat. In some other restaurants, you can choose and buy some meat and they charge an additional fee for the meal setting (grill, side dishes, etc.)
While sometimes I like marinated meat (in some eat-all-you-can meat bars), my husband hates it. He said he could just taste sugar and MSG. LOL. He likes to grill fresh and high-quality meat, not necessarily Hanwoo. Hehe! Okay, fine! 🙂
