Rich or poor, young or old, famous or not, no matter who you are, as long as you eat, you poop! We all poop-it is a fact of life and something that we should celebrate. Haha! Let me take you to a unique cafe called Ddo-ong Cafe or Pooop Cafe which is located at the 4th floor of Ssamzie-gil Mall in Insadong, Seoul. Ddong (똥) is the Korean word for poop, but the cafe is named Ddo-ong (Pooop) to make it sound cuter. Hmmm..is it?

Located next to the cafe is a small store called “Ddoongteria” which is derived from “Lotteria,”the famous fastfood chain in Korea. You can buy poop bread (ddong bbang) there for only 1,000 won each.

At the first floor of the building, you can also buy some Poop-shaped hotteok (Korean sweet pancake) for 1,500 won each.
I had so much fun on that day though I went there alone. Actually, my purpose of going to Insadong was to purchase some traditional gifts and a personal stamp (dojang) for a friend. While walking along the main street, I remembered the cafe that my hubby told me about, so I dropped by before going home.
Honestly, the fried rice that I ordered was fine but nothing special. It was quite pricey considering the small amount. Sorry, I’m just a fan of regular Korean meal with lots of free unlimited side dishes. Haha! I really loved the rose latte though. The flavor was new to me and it was another great “first time.” I don’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a gourmet meal. However it is quite worth visiting if you want to have some drinks, desserts and laughters with friends. I’m sure you’ll end up drinking cold coffee. Haha!
How to get there:
- Take Seoul Subway Line 3 (Orange Line) and get off at Anguk Station – Exit 6.
- Walk straight then turn left to Insadong main street (Insadong-gil).
- You can see Ssamzie-gil Mall along the middle part of Insadong. You can see a store selling “I Love Korea” shirts, Korean flags and Kpop merchandise across the shopping complex.
